Kolkata and the Bridges

If you travel the entire Indian subcontinent you may come across various landscapes and natural beauty that catches your eyes. But you may not be satisfied to see the modern urban development compared to most of your countries. Then as you visit the hoogly river an extension of the ganges you find something truely spectacular the Howrah and the hoogly bridges connecting Howrah with kolkata. The howrah bridge was built by the british and is over 100 years old while the hoogly bridge was built and launched in 10th october 1992. The hoogly bridge also called the Vidyasagar setu has more modern look and it truely is an engineering marvel. Go to Princep ghat where you can get a good glimpse of the Hoogly bridge. However for a view of the Howrah bridge you need to go to Millenium park. from both these places you have ferry services connecting to parts of calcutta and Howrah.
The Hoogly Bridge also called Vidyasagar Setu.
